I originally had no hole in the ceiling, but it was added to give some more unique and directed lighting on the tomb.
Forgotten Tomb:
14 Hour Project
The goal of this project was to build a tomb that captures a similar atmosphere to the scene in "Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring" in the mines of moria where they stumble upon Balin's tomb.
HyperPhysics:
12 Hour Project
The goal with this study was to quickly build up an environment with a dark atmosphere. I was feeling inspired by blair witch and other media featuring haunted/creepy forests!
Quixel and speed tree helped me build up the vegetation and forest quickly. The terrain was hand sculpted in UE4 and the house was a really fast attempt at some modular components. Most of the time was spent lighting and playing with atmosphere.

"Forgotten Tomb" & "HyperPhysics"
I made around 8 environments earlier in the year which were quick studies. In fact each one of them were entirely built in Unreal Engine 4 in less than a day. Some of the studies inspired me quite a bit and taught me a few new tricks and I wanted to share the outcomes with anyone interested! There is a good chance one or two of these studies will become larger, detailed environments in the future!
